What is the PD protocol?
PD stands for Power Delivery, a charging protocol introduced by the USB-IF Association. Its key features are its flexibility and powerful functionality. This protocol allows for precise power negotiation between the charging device and the charger, ensuring the most suitable charging voltage and current. It can be used not only for small devices like mobile phones but also for high-power devices such as computers.
What are the differences between QC and PD protocols?
When choosing charging devices, the main differences between QC and PD protocols are:
Power Output: QC 3.0 has a maximum power output of 36W, with the latest version reaching 100W. PD 3.0 has a maximumpower output of 100W, with the latest version reaching 240W, making it more powerful than QC and suitable for high-power devices.
Charging Speed: Both offer relatively fast charging speeds, but PD is generally faster because it provides more power, thus accelerating the charging process.
Applicable Devices: The QC protocol is more flexible for use with Android devices equipped with Qualcomm chips and is alsosuitable for low-power devices such as power banks and Bluetooth headsets. The PD protocol is not only suitable for low-power devices such as mobile phones but also for high-power devices such as laptops and even small household appliances.
